CMD, NSIC addressed the 19th CII India-Africa Business Conclave 2024
Dr. Subhransu Sekhar Acharya, Chairman-Cum-Managing Director, NSIC, addressed the session on “Creating Employability in Africa for Sustainable Human Capital Growth,” held on August 22, 2024, during the 19th CII India-Africa Business Conclave in New Delhi from August 20-22, 2024. Dr. Acharya spoke about NSIC’s services in MSME development in India and other countries. He highlighted the strategic establishment of Rapid Incubation Centres and Vocational Training Centres by NSIC across various African nations. These initiatives are instrumental in empowering young entrepreneurs with the requisite skills and knowledge, thereby facilitating sustainable economic development through creation of employment opportunities. The session also featured distinguished panelists, including Mr. Puneet R. Kundal, Additional Secretary (E&SA), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India; H.E. Mrs. Sabine Djimouko, Advisor to the President on Education, Republic of Chad; H.E. Dr. Tambo Gina, Minister of Economic Planning and Development, Kingdom of Eswatini; and H.E. Mr. Abdou Jobe, Minister for Tourism and Culture, Republic of The Gambia. The Conclave witnessed participation from over 47 African countries, with nearly 650 representatives from government and business sectors. Additionally, more than 350 representatives from the Indian industry attended the event.

Discussions were held regarding cooperation opportunities in the MSME sector between the two countries.

Mr. Kartikeya Sinha, Director (P&M), led an Indian delegation of 10 MSMEs from the food sector for participation in Vietfood & Beverage-Propack 2024, held from 8-10 August 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He was accompanied by Mr. Shashank Shekhar, Assistant Manager (International Cooperation), NSIC. The objective was to expose Indian MSMEs in Foof sector to the business opportunities in Vietnam. Dr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India, Ho Chi Minh City along with Mr. Kartikeya Sinha, inaugurated the NSIC-MSME India Pavilion at the exhibition. The objective was to expose Indian MSMEs in the food sector to the emerging business opportunities in Vietnam.

Mr. Kartikeya Sinha, Director (P&M), while leading MSME delegation to Vietnam for participation in Vietfood & Beverage-Propack 2024, also held meetings with officials from Agency of Enterprise Development (AED), SME TAC Centre and Indian Business Chamber in Vietnam (INCHAM). These meetings focused on understanding MSMEs support programs and exploring collaboration opportunities for MSMEs in India and Vietnam.

The 78th Independence day was celebrated by NSIC all across its offices by paying tribute to the freedom fighters and the nation’s rich legacy of freedom. At the Head Office, CMD hoisted the National flag in presence of Heads of various verticals, staff members and their children. Apart from Head Office, NSIC zonal, Branch offices and Technical service centres across India also celebrated Independence Day with flag hoisting ceremonies. The celebration was attended by senior officials, staff members and other stakeholders of NSIC, who came together to honor the spirit of independence and renew their dedication to the nation progress.

NTSC (Aligarh) organizes a Job Mela
NTSC (Aligarh) successfully organized a Job Mela on August 7, 2024, aimed at facilitating the placement of trainees recently graduated from the Centre in various trades. The event was graced by Shri Vishak G., I.A.S., District Magistrate of Aligarh, as the Chief Guest, who toured the Workshop, Material Testing Laboratory, and other facilities at the Centre. He commended the Narora Atomic Power Station (NAPS) for supporting NTSC Aligarh Skill Development Training Programme under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. Shri Ram Kumar Yadav, Deputy General Manager and Centre Head, encouraged the trainees to excel in their careers and expressed gratitude to NAPS for their collaboration. At the Job Mela, 18 organizations participated, extending job offers to 165 out of the 215 trainees who attended the interviews.

The event was graced by key dignitaries including Mr. Mahesh M. Pai, General Manager of Canara Bank; Mr. M.G. Rajagopal, President of KASSIA; Mr. Girish, DGM of Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL); Mr. Anjan, Senior Manager at BEL; Mr. Srinivasan, DGM of Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. (BEML); and Mr. R. Saravana Kumar, NSIC ZGM Bangalore, who inaugurated the program and presented on NSIC schemes.

NSIC organized an Awareness Campaign as part of its Digital Exhibition on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on 14th August 2024, at the NSIC Corporate Office in Okhla, New Delhi. The event, attended by NSIC officials, reflected on the significance of India Independence and honored the sacrifices made during the Partition. Additionally, an awareness campaign was also organised at Bank to further spread awareness about Partition Horrors Remembrance Day. In his address, the CMD, NSIC emphasized the importance of remembering the pain of Partition alongside the strength and determination that led to India freedom, highlighting the need to safeguard the nation hard-earned independence.

The event was also graced by Shri Sampad Chandra Swain, Hon’ble Minister of State for Industries, Skill Development & Technical Education, Shri Gokulananda Mallik, Hon’ble Minister of State for MSME, Fisheries & Animal Resources, Government of Odisha, Shri Hemant Sharma, IAS, Principal Secretary, Industries & MSME Department, Government of Odisha. In his address, CMD, NSIC highlighted the significance of providing key marketing support for MSMEs, and emphasized NSIC’s core activities, including the Digital MSMEMART B2B Platform. He also stressed the importance of increasing procurement from SC-ST and women entrepreneurs.
